“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me – watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly (Matthew 11:28-30, The Message).”

“I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh (Ezekiel 36:26 TNIV).”

“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full (John 10:10, TNIV).”

These  scriptures speak to the heart (excuse the pun!) of what we’re about here at Brand New Heart Ministries (based in New Zealand). We’re two friends (Rob and David) who have come to believe that there is a new way to live because we have brand new hearts given to us in Christ. Through Christ the Holy Spirit has been given to us and is the fulfilment of the promise given to Ezekiel and Jeremiah. So let me say this plainly; if you are a Christian you have been given a brand new heart and it is good!

The goal of this blog and ministry is to help you live from that good heart. It’s not easy. We are constantly assaulted by Satan, by the world and by the flesh. Their voices of shame, self-doubt, faithlessness, hatred and despair must be silenced. Then we must learn to come alive to the voice of God, his love for us, our true and noble identity in Christ, the work of the Spirit in and through us, the vital part we play in God’s kingdom and more.

Coming Home

Coming Home is the name of a book we have recently published, but is also an invitation at the heart of Jesus’ announcement of the kingdom of God. We are sons and daughters of a good Father and brothers and sisters to his Son, Jesus. There is joy, intimacy and freedom available for us as we apprentice ourselves to Jesus and walk with him in the Father’s Estate. Brand New Heart will be running retreats and workshops based on this material throughout the year. Keep an eye out and check out our Facebook page too.

Wild at Heart Basic

We have been unashamedly influenced by the ministry of John Eldredge and the Ransomed Heart team (see www.ransomedheart.com). I (Rob) have attended 3 Wild at Heart Boot Camps and have had my life changed as a result. There is now a tremendous resource called Wild at Heart Basic, which enables men everywhere and anywhere to experience the life-changing effects of a Wild at Heart event. David’s already run one and we are committed to offering these also.

Who we are

My name is Rob Gray. I was a pastor at Hillcrest Chapel in Hamilton, New Zealand for 16 years. I have now committed myself to being the Director of Brand New Heart Ministries. I’m married to Kiley (23 years this year) and we have two beautiful children, Jake and Jasmine. I love lakes, oceans, rivers, waterfalls and hot showers. I occasionally like to get out on the golf course and explore as much of it as I can! I love my sport, a good spy novel, the music of Bruce Springsteen, U2 and many others (not Amy Grant. Sorry David!). I especially love learning to live for Jesus out of my new heart.

My name is David Andrews.  I run my own leadership consulting company (part-time), and work as a public servant (part-time), and write poetry (most of the time).  I love writing, playing the guitar, dreaming about playing golf, and I enjoy mountain biking.  I love any music by Amy Grant, U2, and The Waifs (not Bruce Springsteen. Sorry Rob!).  Through my writing and poetry I have come to know Jesus in ways that I have never experienced before and I am enjoying the journey of my heart.

We we would love to hear from you. Why not drop us a line?

Come back, visit and join us on this most excellent adventure.  You can find us on Facebook too and keep up to date.
